2 from Pomegranate “Royal Fairy Tale” Collection

 photo IMG_4240_zps0e5ab28a.jpg
Aren't they gorgeous.  Pomegranate recently launched the Royal Fairy Tale Collection consisting of 14 new shades inspired in fairy tales of happy endings... and a happy ending is a dry nail with no smudges :)

Two of those shades are here!!!!!!  with the debut of my nubs. (broken hearted nails)
First up is True Love's Kiss is a gorgeous metallic lilac just so hard to photograph with rainy days and late nights at work =(  but indeed dreamy.
but this truly inspires true love's kiss

After a few days (yeap! a few days, because Pomegranate is long lasting and it's so pretty i didnt want to take it off) I decided to accentuate with Broken Curse

Seen here over China Glaze Tart-y For The Party and with no undies on ring finger

 photo IMG_4195_zps67466167.jpg
At first I expected a purple base and later found out that it is a clear base and a myriad of purple and blue micro glitter in mardi gras tones (if that makes sense)

This is my pinkie.. makes me think of cupcakes and sprinkles.

WHICH ONE IS YOUR FAVORITE??

Njoy: E-Cig Review

First and foremost, I am in NO WAY promoting smoking and am not a smoker and have never done so and dont plan to do it.  I dont know how I turned out this way as everyone in my immediate family smokes or has smoked for as long as I can remember.

So as a NON-smoker and besides ALL the health hazards that smoking causes I can tell you, with all due respect, ya'll STINK! (smell bad).

Someone PLEEEEEEEASE tell my office's Fedex guy to please smoke out of the truck all of my packages smell so bad sometimes I dont even want to open them.

So as much as I dislike the smell of a cigarette and is not like my family and friends are going to quit ever, I thought what a great idea these e-cigs are and the best thing is that they're not really cigarettes

I am no expert but I have always said that smoking is nothing more than a bad habit, is more about the physical and mental habit and the psychology of it then the actual "high" or "relief" that they get from it.

Those that have to have a cigarette with coffee or only when they're out socially drinking or just the habit of reaching into pocket for one while driving and stinking while at it.  Njoy is for you! Fight the addiction, break the habit.

\ photo IMG_3794_zps087e4cf2.jpg
So to really test this product, I gave Njoy cigs to my friends who dont like to come to my house because this is a smoke-free home.

One of them has children and the child's reaction was priceless and I quote "this is the best day of my life" puzzled I asked why: he hugs me and says "my mom wont stink anymore"
I was like WOW am not alone here!

Njoy looks and feels just like a cigarette so the smokers dont feel a difference is ready to go right from the pack and it fits in purses, pockets, wallets, wristlets, etc. simply take out and it "activates" by a puff

Njoy has made a great difference and my friends have reported how great it is not to have to carry a pack of cigs that breaks in purses leaving traces everywhere or better yet, not to have to BUY one!  Two months in and EVERYONE has reported major cut backs (sadly no quits yet) and have received very pleasing feedback as to their appearance and perfumes (yeah! we can smell the perfume on them now) no more stinky friends and family. SCORE!!!  one out of the 6 reported a lapse where a regular cig was offered and didnt refuse but doesnt sound like a major fall back.  Ladies preferred menthol while men didnt care.

 photo IMG_3799_zps2818ac0d.jpg
Seriously, you're not going to be considerate of yourself and those who love you (healthwise) and quit, be considerate of others use an e-cig and problem solved you wont STINK!

Njoy is affordable and accessible and rechargeable, a hassle saver.

So You Want to Write a Cookbook?
Culinary Agency Seeks to Sign New Talent via Twitter

Hatfield, MA – So you want to write a cookbook? Do you have a food blog and dream of being published? Have you ever been standing over a big pot of stew at the stove and had the perfect idea for a cookbook pop into your head? Now is your chance.

The Lisa Ekus Group, a culinary agency that recently celebrated 31 years in business, is seeking new talent through a Twitter contest. Inspired by the March Madness basketball tournament, the contest will ask anyone who wants to write a cookbook to pitch their best culinary non-fiction ideas to @SallyEkus via 140-character (or less) tweets to #SignMeSal from March 11 -13, 2013. On March 14th, 2013, the finalists will be chosen to participate in the playoffs and entries will be whittled down in subsequent days. Like the March Madness basketball tournament, 16 finalists will enter the playoffs. Remaining participants will then be asked to round out their proposals with further tweets that cover standard proposal elements, such as the book’s point of differentiation, the author’s promotional ideas, and the author’s credentials. The last two finalists will join Literary Agent Sally Ekus in a Twitter chat on March 25, 2013 to discuss their ideas as well as ask questions about agency representation and cookbook publishing in general. Contestants, who were previously eliminated, as well as the greater Twitter community, will be encouraged to join the Twitter chat to ask questions of the final two contenders. A single winner will be chosen and then work with agent Sally Ekus to develop a fleshed out proposal to pitch to editors at publishing houses.

The contest calendar is as follows:

March 11th-13th, 2013: Tweet your cookbook concept to #SignMeSal
March 14th, 2013@SallyEkus will tweet the 16 cookbook concept playoff contenders
March 15th, 2013: The winning 16 will tweet once what their Point of Differentiation (How is this concept different from what already exists in the market?) is to#SignMeSal
March 18th, 2013: 8 winners will be announced by @SallyEkus and will proceed to the next round
March 19th, 2013: The 8 winners of the last round will tweet 3 promotional ideas for how they intend to promote their book once it is published.
March 20th, 2013: 4 winners from the promotional idea round will be announced by@SallyEkus
March 21st, 2013: The 4 winners of the promotional idea round will tweet their answer to the final question, “Why me? Why am I the person to write this book?” in up to three tweets to #SignMeSal
March 22nd, 2013: Two finalists will be announced by @SallyEkus
March 25th, 2013@SallyEkus will host a Twitter chat from 1-2pm EST to ask the finalists questions about their concepts and backgrounds. This will also be a chance for the two finalists to ask questions about agent representation and The Lisa Ekus Group, as well as a time for people following the contest to weigh in with their own questions. The finalists should come to the chat prepared to answer questions such as “What does platform mean to me?” and “I want to write this book because…”
March 27th, 2013: One winner will be announced by @SallyEkus

Interested parties should pitch any idea related to food, health, wellness, and cooking. You may be previously published, but you may not be currently represented by another literary agency. The Lisa Ekus Group is looking for fresh voices, new ideas, and untapped talent. “I am looking for someone who can get their ideas across succinctly, in 140 characters or less,” said Sally Ekus. "The Tweet is the new elevator pitch.”

Contest rules can be found HERE.

The Lisa Ekus Group is a full-service culinary agency. We provide media training, strategic public relations planning, consulting, and literary agency services to the world of culinary talent. It is our belief that a vibrant culinary industry is the result of many voices, and so we strive to support and promote chefs, cookbook authors, food writers, and photographers.

Review and Giveaway for spoiled Rotten Pets

ahhhhhh............ You know my Maya and Milo looooove to be the center of attention, maybe they're just too spoiled.. more like spoiled rotten.

I was thrilled when Petflow contacted me to review their monthly box and so were my kitties.

Petflow is a pet food delivery service that also carries great goodies such as treats and toys for cats and dogs and have **GREAT SPECIALS** and your favorite brands at great prices.

Most importantly for the spoiled doggies and kitties, Petflow offers a monthly subscription box called Spoiled Rotten.  Almost $40 worth of goodies for only $24.99 delivered to your doorstep every month.

It arrived in a safely packed box safely guarded by these two, who, although know are not allowed in the bedroom everynow and then they manage to sneak into the corner of the bed, specially if they need to guard their package.
   photo IMG_8801_zpsaf41300a.jpg

 photo IMG_3994_zpsb8f01e14.jpg
Finally opened.   Maya was the first one to arrive, she's the chief box inspector.
 photo IMG_3995_zps1e76ed79.jpg

Milo was very happy and wanted to take everything out himself.
 photo IMG_3998_zpsffa8a7d4.jpg
the box contained the following:

Cat dancer (toy) retails for $24.99
Teeth gel ($9.99)
one chicken entree and turkey entree ($1.79) each
Lickety stick lickable treat ($2.99)
Petguard leaf and flower organically grown catnip ($11.99)
super cat cave ($5.99)

I thought the cat cave was the coolest thing.  It's basically a paper-bag looking cave that releases catnip with every scratch, buf and crumple
 photo IMG_4001_zps5432406a.jpg

But no one agreed with me.  They still prefer shopping and DSW bags and of course regular catnip.
 photo IMG_3999_zps45163254.jpg
Their absolute favorite was the lickety stik cat treat.  I love just twisting the roll-on cap and give to them, as opposed to getting a bag, opening and getting my hands smelling like cat treats every time I want to lure my cats into something or just praise them for something else.

This has become the treat of choice for toilet praise.  Yes, toilet.  Maya still has accidents with #2.  She just refuses to do #2 in the toilet if am not home.  It kind of defeats the purpose of being toilet-trained but when she gets it right she gets a lick :)  and she's been really good lately and she demands her lick.  Am starting to think she does it right to get her lick fix (LOL)

Sally Hansen Salon Insta Gel Strips

As part of a product review, I received Sally Hansen's Insta Gel Strips starter kit in wine not.

Before I start, let me tell you that I really like Sally Hansen products and was eager to try these babies out.  Gel strips have become more and more popular because of the quick application, no drying time and duration of the manicure.

Complete kit comes with nail cleanser pads, gel polish strips, mini LED light, nail file and cuticle stick.  Easy to follow instructions right on the box.  End result depends on you I guess.
I wasnt too thrilled.  The strips didnt exactly fit my nails.  So the edges along the cuticle line werent pretty AT ALL to look at.
Once you put them stretch them to smooth away any bubbles.
Once you apply them, use the nail file to take away the excess.

 photo SallyHansenGelStrips4_zps7e8b8317.jpg

when you're done applying all 10 strips apply the gel top coat and put them under the LED light, one nail at a time.
Press the button on top to turn on, the lamp will turn off automatically after 30 seconds (that was neat, I didnt have to count to 30) then on to the next nail.
 photo SallyHansenGelStrips6_zpsc79be17a.jpg photo SallyHansenGelStrips5_zpsd028adb6.jpg

Except for the issue with size I loved the color and the incredible shine but the the edge along the cuticle was not pretty.
 photo SallyHansenGelStrips7_zpsb63f7108.jpg photo SallyHansenGelStrips_zpsab9fafcd.jpg photo SallyHansenGelStrips3_zps34078760.jpg photo SallyHansenGelStrips2_zps07279dcd.jpg

I have to give it another shot (maybe) when am in a rush, but I will be more likely to use gel polish than gel strips.
Tips:
make sure your nails are smooth and dried.
clean out ALL excess of gel top coat before going under the LED light, if there is excess, it will just lift off and take the strip with it.
Don't file your nails after you have cured them, that will break the seal and cause chips.

To remove, apply remover, just use the cuticle stick and slowly lift.
Starter kit is a little pricey but then the strips are very affordable ($5.00) and comes in lots of colors and designs.
