Summer time: sandals time

As part of a product review, I received a pair of Okabashi Indigo sandals in gorgeous pink and brown :)

Okabashi is proudly made in Buford, Georgia (U.S.A. baby!!!).  The location was chosen so it would be in the center of it all and maximize fuel capacity to transport shoes and sandals from the factory into our shoe closets.

Greatest thing that caught my attention about Okabashi was their recycling process.  According to them, a lot of shoes made in the US are pretty unrecyclable.  Okabashi has a closed-loop recycling to reduce the use of virgin material and keep old shoes from becoming environmental waste.  The average Okabashi sandal has 15-25% recycled material and almost all scrap and excess material are kept free from contaminants and recycled.  What cannot be recycled is sent to partner companies for their use.

"If you return your well-loved and worn Okabashis to our factory, we will recycle them. Returns that are free from contamination are recycled for use in new Okabashi products. Returns with contaminants are processed and recycled for use in non-apparel goods."

Durable, Washable and Recyclable

My new Okabashi sandals are vegan friendly and should last at least 2 years - It's GUARANTEED!!!!!! (this does not mean two summer seasons)

Monday Blues

I really have the Monday Blues today. Back from a wonderful mini vacation with the fam. You just wish that long weekends were longer. Don't you? However, on the way there my cat hurts her nose trying to escape the kennel (post to come) then my nails suffer a bad bad break. (pic on instagram @bsnfun). As if all that wasnt enough am really hormonal just like that saying "I have PMS and a GPS which means am a bitch that can find you"
I can find whoever screws up my day but not camera... So these are lousy cellphone pictures :(
Can anything else go wrong?

So last night was a good break from it all while picking what color to wear for the next few days! yeap! next few days. so I picked this combo of China Glaze colors. Sunday Funday from the Avant Garden Collection and Take a Trek from the Hologram Collection.  It just seems like everytime I want to wear these colors my nails break :(

My Nail Plate Storage System: Sloppy but useful post (I hope)

Soooo this has got to be the sloppiest post ever but I just can't wait to share this with you.

If there is enough interest.  I will do an "official"post.

I love arts and crafts and all I need is more hours in the day to do stuff... I've been working for like a year in finishing a "banner" for a towel for Maya (one of my cats) in cross-stitching and I looooooooove scrapbooking.

My good friends knows how much I love scrapbooking and gave me toooons of stuff, papers, cutters, ribbon, etc..  For some time, I was doing it digitally, although very nice and neat it just wasnt as fun as cutting, folding, gluing, being messy and cleaning up (yeah, maybe not so fun cleaning up).

In searching for the best possible (CHEAPEST) way to store my nail stamping plates I combined several ideas from all over the web (I wish I had saved a list to give proper credit) to make my very own storage system.

One wonderful cheap idea I saw was using a baseball-type card collector binder but it was as big as a school binder to fit in my bookshelf but I want this to fit in my dresser or next to my nail polish rack.

 photo NailPlateStorage_zps0b6a3d1e.jpg

Using scrapbook paper I made small envelopes 2 and 1/4in. (plus folding flaps)  (about the size of the plate)
each 12x12 sheet was good for 10 little envelopes.

 photo NailPlateStorage3_zps8f106766.jpg

Using my Circle Scissors (#47) I made the circles so that the plates will show through.

 photo NailPlateStorage4_zps34d7dcc2.jpg

then cut the outline

 photo NailPlateStorage5_zps231d36eb.jpg

Because scrapbooking paper can be on the thick side, in using the 2 and 1/4in measurement the plates were nice and snuggy (snuggy being a word in this post) in the envelope.  However, some papers were thinner leaving the plate with room to move around and possibly slide out.

 photo NailPlateStorage6_zps9e617b27.jpg

So i cut smaller foam circles to create some sort of non-slip surface

 photo NailPlateStorage7_zpsa04c6f9e.jpg

this way the plate wont silde out.

 photo NailPlateStorage2_zps96e8f7de.jpg

(Seen are my Pueen plates)

I glued the envelopes in different places throughout the page to create different looks.  I plan on decorating the pages too! between the plates for added cuteness.
Every page holds 4 plate-envelopes.  The pages are made from scrapbook kit covers (much thicker than the paper)

The binder is a software storage binder I had with a bunch of CD's and CD sleeves, took those out.  The binder cover is a utility cover but I will decorate it differently (eventually)
I can now see ALL of my plates and have discovered images I didnt even know I had :)
Best of all I can flip through the pages while doing my nails in case I change my mind or want to add something different.

This was the perfect fix for my longing of a plate storage system while on a no-buy for what seems to be forever :(

This is sooo exciting. (to me).  I hope you like it too!  If you do (or if you don't) let me know.

Monday Blues: Zoya Liberty

I don't like Mondays but maybe now I will :)  One of the blogs I follow, The Polish Playground, (she's awesome by the way and also participated in my 4k likes giveaway, so you should be following her too ;)
was posting amazing pictures of gorgeous blue polish, frankly, I wasnt too interested in the post as I was mesmerized by the pictures and the gorgeous blue pretties she was featuring.  Blue being my favorite color, I had to ask what it was all about.

And she gave me ALL the insight :)

It's a weekly post called "Monday Blues".  How appropriate!!.  There are several blogs participating.  I had to join too as I am a victim of this Monday mood on a weekly basis.  It even messes up my Sunday just because I know what's coming next.

For my very first day I thought I went with some Pixie with Zoya Liberty :)

Nothing says Blue better than Zoya Liberty especially this week being 4th of July week :)

I came home between jobs and put two coats of this beauty.  Just came home and added some stamping... Wait.. till tomorrow to see! (it'll be on FB)(I think you'll like it :)
