Finally!! our own shoe storage (yes, our)

I've been running out of shoe space for quite some time... different ideas have flown but never actually materialized... Finally, while brainstorming about uumm... I can't remember but it was not shoe related, the lightbulb went on!!! and I had to go shopping...

I looooove Ikea and I am lucky enough to have one near me... I bought a few shelves from the Antonious shelving system, an upright wall attachment (well... 2) and a few brackets.... just shy of $50 and started building.



Building was not a problem... I had the best helpers... click HERE to see Maya helping in the building of our shelves and HERE to see why it is now "our" shoe shelf.

I've always had the idea of using wall space but can't stand the thought of the visible clutter... So i thought of a wall divider and this is the one that better fits my needs... I saw an amazingly gorgeous one with bamboo designs.... for only $9 more at the Home Depot but the panels are made of  a kind of paper and with two hyperactive cats, my best bet was this Ikea plain wood/vinyl divider.  I can just imagine my kitty cats running after eachother and crashing into my paper divider :(

So playing it safe.. I got this one for $99 (yeah! it was a little over budget... but it's something I could use for any other purpose in the future.

My shoes were all kept in their respective boxes in piles in different corners of my room and in two closets... I had to do something about it.... and here they are.... what a clutter... more things to dust and for cats to climb on but all handy... I can just grab a pair of shoes and go! no boxes to look through or risk forgetting what shoes I own.

I still however, keep the "nice" shoes in their boxes... the nice ones are the pricier ones and the delicate ones (made of rhinestones or high glitter content, etc.) (haha "content") anyway...

I still have two shelves inside one closet and three shelves inside another closet.  I am still re-arranging my closets so they may end up together (ideally) we'll see...




Best part is......

Again, am still re-arranging my room as I think of new things and better ideas... but this is how it looks as of right now! and wondering why that nail polish rack is so empty?  that's my late-at-night go-to-stash! for those nights i want to do my nails but am too lazy to go where nail polish is kept! ^_^



Something like this can be done to store your crafts, fabrics, nail polish, you name it!!!!! put everything behind a divider... maximize your storage space by using your walls!!!!

Trust me on this one.... when things are messy they're out of sight and when out of sight... out of mind!!!! you'll end up buying things you already own just because you cant remember if you have that or the other thing or not! like me... I can't remember if I have black patent leather shoes or not.. did I get rid of them? those are classics ... I can't find them... I just dont know .. but I'll know now!! :)

Need storage for your goodies?

I live in a very small apartment with very small closets and little to no goodies-storage space, I always run out of room for goodies, nail polish, shoes, makeup, you know, things that are really important (lol) you name it and I dont know where to put it... and on top of it, I hate being messy.

The floor cleaner worked great on my hardwood floors and had a very pleasant natural scent. Left no streaks and left the floor shiny and no opaque spots after drying =)


Multi-purpose cleaner - was great especially on glass. If you're a cat owner, you know how bad windex and other glass cleaners can be because of the ammonia content. The liquid was very light and left my glass streak free. I use it with my Skoy Cloth.


Hand sanitizer came in a perfectly sized travel bottle, fits in purse as well as the stain remover and odor eliminator. I took them to my service retreat to New Orleans. I am glad I had the odor eliminator with me while away. Some shoes benefited from it and were left with a very nice and clean scent.

BTW: I do enjoy doing chores while breaking in new shoes ;)

Go Green: Skoy Cloth

Have you ever wondered how many papertowels do you use during your cleaning routine?? I counted.  I use 8, not that bad, except that I clean twice a week and I "wash" my papertowel to its last paper molecule and re-use it until I have to replace it, so that's pretty intense and WASTEFUL cleaning despite my efforts! and a sponge grosses me out after a certain period of time.  Have you smelled your hands after washing the dishes? I hate that sponge smell and it occurs because of build-up bacteria that grows in the sponge because of its inability to dry fast.

As stated on previous posts, I do what I can to support the green efforts and when I was provided with the Skoy Cloth, I couldnt be happier.  The Skoy is a  biodegradable, reusable, absorbent, clean and CUTE cloth that can be used with any household cleaner or just water.  It contains no chemicals in its colors or inks.

To use it, just wet it, and squeeze the excess water.
To clean it, you can throw it in the dishwater, washing machine or hand wash it and dries super fast so bacteria cannot grow in it.  You can also put it in the microwave as a sanitizing measure (MAKE SURE IT"S WET BEFORE MICROWAVING).

I had a spill in my refrigerator from chicken I had to prepare for a BBQ at home over the weekend and saw the spill as an opportunity to try it out.  It absorbed the mess super fast and the Skoy was very easy to clean and did not have a raw chicken smell afterwards =D

Ozeri Prestige Electric Wine Bottle Opener

If you are anything like me, this is for you! I could never open a bottle of wine without chewing the cork and after that making it almost impossible for someone that can operate a manual wine bottle opener to actually open the bottle.  So at times, it was easier to have a different drink than to try and struggle with the bottle, avoid the embarrassment of leaving floating agents, and hearing the complaints of others for my lack of this ability.  

I was super excited when given the opportunity to review the Prestige Electric Wine Opener from Ozeri Products it is so easy to operate, just press the button down until it stops (holding the bottle with minimum effort so it does not spin in the same direction) then press the button up and cork comes right out yaay! it also comes with a wine aerator pourer, to be used to oxygenate wine right out of the bottle as opposed to letting it sit to improve its taste and aroma, (A++), and a foil cutter for added convenience (as taking the foil has often ruined my manicure).  I have tried a metal electric wine bottle opener before but it was a little slippery.  In contrast, this one has a rubberized finish so it does not escape my hands and its shape adjusts to my grip perfectly.  A must have a wine enjoying household.  Ozeri Products has wonderful customer service, priced perfectly and the product was sipped super fast!

The charger sits beautifully on my bar top and has a storage spot for the foil cutter.
