Newman's Own Organics

"In late 2011 two new cookies were introduced and the category of Family Recipe Cookies was created. Listening to consumers requests both Ginger Snaps, made with real candied ginger, and Oatmeal Chocolate Chip were added to the cookie line. The Family Recipe Cookies, which include the already popular Chocolate Chip, Orange Chocolate Chip, and Double Chocolate Chip, have been packaged with an attractive new look. The cookie line uses palm shortening. “People initially confused this ingredient with palm kernel oil,” say Nell. “Palm kernel oil is extracted from a nut and is generally solvent extracted and must be refined before use. Palm oil is extracted only from the fruit, like olive and avocado oil, and is not refined, only filtered and deodorized. Unlike butter, palm shortening is plant derived, so it has no cholesterol and is lower in saturated fat than butter. Although palm shortening has more saturated fat than partially hydrogenated shortening, it contains no trans-fatty acids. It makes an excellent tasting product and replaces a non-organic ingredient, conventional butter, while maintaining reasonable retail cost. We use palm oil that comes from large co-ops in Colombia. Our supplier, who is certified according to the standards of ProForest, is also participating in Alliance for Peace, funded by the U.S. Government to help small farmers who are supported by larger partners who supply them with seed, technical assistance and a market for their products.”

I received a box full of organic goodies from Newman's Own Organics and was super delighted to have had the opportunity to try the all.

Nowadays it is so hard to figure out what's good and what's bad and where to find a healthy snack to eat without braking your wallet.   Below are my favorite products

 I had promised to my students that I will bring cookies to our next class if, and only if, they were on their best behavior.  Children love cookies amd adults dislike them for the same reasons; SUGAR!

I took a Newma's-O's package to my students and they were slightly disappointed not to see a blue and white package with dark cookies in front (you all know what I mean), however when they tried it some of them said "mmmm, these taste just like Oreos" and came back for more - yaaaaaay!!!!!!  a children-approved cookie.
At work, I took the ginger package and the adults were not very attracted to cookies but as soon as reading the label, they all took at least two!!!!!! yaaaaay!!!!!!! also adult-approved.

On another note, the dried fruit was amazingly exquisite and full of flavor.  The apples pack contains about 3 servings per package.  However, there was a small problem, I ate them all in one sitting :/
The cranberries were a great addition to my morning oatmeal.  Just poured oatmeal into a bowl, add hot water and Newman's Own Cranberries and all that equals a great breakfast!!!!

I did have a small problem with the berry blend on the first day.  My teeth are a little sensitive I had my braces taken off recently and the berries pack caused a little sensitivity but I added them to my oatmeal, problem solved.

The salted sticks and the caramel cups (my all-time favorites) they were delicious and great snacks, the licorice were a little strong in flavor but also good and the mints were a great hit among my friends, I personally do not like mints. 

Overall, I am highly satisfied with the entire Newman's Own Organics. They are indeed "great tasting products that happen to be organic".
